The Hawaiian shirt has old-school origins .
This garb speaks of tropical casual relaxation .
Once donned only by suave globe-trottin' Daddies ,
lately ignorant Tourists seem to have hogged 'em .
Maybe it's because way back in the day ,
only the choicest patterns were used ,
ususally offered in wild yet restraining few colors .
Today they are spangled with a vomit of colors ,
and the repitition of same ol' overused patterns .
No wonder these once Pimpin' shirts have been lost
to the shame of mediocrity , and sadly ,
that's the reason most women hate 'em on us .
How did they ever evolve into the current tasteless
garish trash offered today ? Hell if I know !
In a sub-tropical , or wannabe-tropical climate ,
Hawaiian shirts should only be worn in
the daytime , and spring and summer .
In genuinely tropical settings ,
you can wear 'em any damn time you please .
As far as colors , a good rule of thumb is :
more than three , leave it be !
The best examples are always the Vintage ones ,
They are highly collectable , which means they
cost way too much for po' folks like me and you .

Today you can find inexpensive Hawaiian shirts
from almost every label , I'll show you only some
old classics to give you an idea what to look for .

Here is a good examlple of what a great
Hawaiian shirt should look like .
See ? Exellent use of a pattern .
Upright Palm trees above ,
and the native landscape below ,
Everything in it's place .
Bold colors yet as few as possible are used .

As said , this is an example only .
Sadly , being highly desirable ,
this shirt sold recently for over $200 .
That's way out of my league....and yours .
Made by ' Duke Kahanamoku ' .
An old reliable brand of great quality .
The tag gives you a little token translation :
" Take it Easy " .
You hear that , White Boy ?

Another untouchable shirt .

Supposedly exactly like one worn by
Cliff Montgomery in the old famous movie
" From Here to Eternity " . Big deal , huh ?
I guess so , cuz this bitch sold for over $500 !

Surfs up !

This sucker is pretty cool .
None of the usual frou-frou Hawaiian patterns ,
just a plain camp shirt with a leid Surfer Dude
surrouded by a ring of Hibiscus . Choice .

Here's a bad-ass Hula Girl shirt .

A coy Dancer shakes her booty on the back .
Joined by two on the front pockets . Stylin' .

Refined by monochomatic Green ,

this nice shirt shows pleasant scenes of
stereotypical natives doing their stuff .

Hot as a fresh lava flow !

Wild but without busy pretentious patterns ,
this shirt would kick your ass !
